Key volunteering in the life of the centres and in our model of care
Today's entry is a post to thank all our volunteers. People who decide to dedicate part of their personal space and time in a supportive way.
We want them to serve as a recognition to all the organizations, intergenerational volunteering, and civic groups that promote social solidarity and support our centres.
Many of them have approached Matia Fundazioa, and specifically some of them share our daily life at the Bermingham Residence, where 59 elderly people live together.
The work of the volunteer in our Centre is to collaborate, complement and implement programmes of daily life, leisure activities, spirituality and community intervention. They are participants in the relational world of our residents' lives, and they are people who serve as support in the wide network of social support.
Through volunteering we are able to add proposals of choice and participation for our residents. Our volunteers are plural and come from different motivations: some from religious beliefs, others from ideology, interest in the common good, social transformation, empathy, collaboration, advocacy and closeness to the elderly.
Collaborating with committed and diverse volunteers allows us to broaden the choices and personal life projects of our residents, thus enriching our model of care.
The care team of the Bermingham Residential Unit believes in the transformation of residential organisations into open, flexible and participative care services where the centre of attention is the PERSON .
Therefore, we value and believe in the work of volunteers, organizations, social and civic groups, and we are proud of their work. That is why we want to show this testimony of gratitude and invite people who want to make their contribution and new proposals in our organisations of Matia Fundazioa. You are all welcome to
