The Aragonese Institute of Social Services (IASS) is leading a project to transform the care model in its directly managed residences for the elderly, through the implementation and development of cohabitation units.
At the end of 2022, the IASS established an alliance with Matia so that we could accompany them in the process, launching a participatory action-research project. The objective is that each person living in an IASS residence can develop a quality life, a chosen life, without leaving the community to which they belong and with the support and care they need.
In December 2024, the public conference “Experiences of progress in the AICP model in residential care” took place, bringing together more than 200 professionals and managers of residences in Aragon, and sharing the results and lessons learned from the project.
The collaboration will continue throughout 2025, to consolidate what has been achieved, scale up the progress made and set up new cohabitation units, thanks to this commitment to continuity made by the IASS, with the research project on scaling up the person-centered care model in residential centers for the elderly of the IASS.
