Nerea Melgosa, Councilor for Equality, Justice and Social Policies, accompanied by Marian Olabarrieta, Director of Social Services, visited Matia Fundazioa, a non-profit organization with more than 130 years of experience in the provision of social, health and community services in Gipuzkoa.
Melgosa was able to see first hand the progress of the Lugaritz project, an innovative initiative that integrates housing for life, aimed at people in the aging process who have some kind of support needs and share a preference for giving continuity to their life project at home.
The Councilor also visited the Egurtzegi care housing and day center that Matia has in Usurbil. The housing with care for the elderly is the first center designed with a housing approach instead of following the traditional institutional model. Both the care housing and the Egurtzegi day center are integrated into the Care Ecosystem that is being developed in the municipality of Usurbil.
